Welcome to 7th grade math! We have a lot of exciting material to learn. We will be using the general pacing structure below to address the key concepts of 7th grade which will prepare students for success in 8th grade math and beyond.

Unit 1: Accentuate the Negative: Integers and Rational Numbers (September- October)

Unit 2: Stretching and Shrinking: Understanding Similarity (October - November)

Unit 3: Comparing and Scaling: Ratios, Rates, Percents, & Proportions (November - December)

Unit 4: Moving Straight Ahead: Linear Relationships (December - February)

Unit 5: What Do You Expect: Probability and Expected Value (March)

Unit 6: Samples and Populations: Making Comparisons and Predictions (March)

Unit 7: Shapes and Designs: Two-Dimensional Geometry (April – May)

Unit 8: Filling and Wrapping: Three-Dimensional Geometry (June)

We will be using the Connected Mathematics Program 3 (CMP3) for our text this year. Classroom instruction in CMP3 focuses deeply on inquiry and investigation of mathematical concepts prioritized in the standards, which are embedded in rich problem situations. Underlying concepts, skills, or procedures supporting the development of a key idea are identified and included in an appropriate development sequence.

I will be using an online grading system called Pupil Path through Skedula. This is an online tool that will give you and your child access to grades, assignments, and directly to me. Your child will bring home a letter with instructions for signing on.

The class website this year will be www.mathinmind.com. This site should be checked

Grading Policy:

60% - Test and Quizzes

20% - Homework

15% - Classwork / Participation

5% - Notebook
