Does the order of operations work for integers?AIM: ACE #1-7; p.86HW: We worked with the order of operations. 7th grade takes a skills learned in prior grades and builds upon it by including positive and negative numbers (integers). Today we briefly reviewed order of operations and working with exponents, and applied our skills in the context of a game called "Dealing Down." In Dealing Down, integer cards are shuffled and four cards are drawn. The goal of the game is to use operation symbols (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and parentheses to create the largest value possible. The person with the largest value wins. Classwork:This topic is an excellent review of integer algorithms because students are forced to use a variety of integer skills within the same problem.
