AIM: How can we identify and combine like terms?

There will be a test this Friday, March 4 (3/4). The test will include material from unit 4, with a focus on more recent material. Topics include:
· Combining like-terms and simplifying expressions
· Distributive Property
· Solving One, Two, Multi-step equations
· Writing (and solving) equations from word problems
· Linear relationships
· Rate Tables
· Writing equations with independent and dependent variables
· Rates of change
Simplify the expression:
Classwork: Today's class was a reiteration of yesterday. We focused on identifying like terms by their variable components, and then combining them using strategies used in previous classes. We applied this for perimeter problems that required students to combine variable expressions.
As a more engaging approach to like terms, we played "Like Terms UNO" which is a spin off the original card game Uno in which player match cards by either color or number. In this class version, students matched modified cards by either color OR Like terms. This will help students more fluently identify like terms
