AIM: What are some issues created by scaling up or scaling down a recipe?

Do Now: Compare and contrast the ratios below:
2 cups of concentrate to 3 cup of cold water
2 cups of concentrate to 5 cups of juice
Classwork: After today's Do Now, we took a notebook check quiz. Students used their notes to answer questions on specific AIM, Do Nows, and model problems from previous classes. This is an effort to force accountability for taking notes which is an integral part of the learning process. It also gets students in the habit of referencing items from the past which is necessary when preparing for examinations and when completing homework.
The orange concentrate situation from yesterday was extended today. We discussed part-to-part and part-to-whole ratios more closely. This allowed us to work on problems that made comparisons with different juice recipes.
