Aim: How are the multiplication and division of integers related?
Homework: No HW due to religious observance
Do Now: Flo Jo set an Olympic record when she ran 100 meters in 10.62 seconds. How long would it take her to run 1,000 meters if she could keep up her record pace? Justify your reasoning.
Classwork: Students used chip boards to discover the multiplication algorithm. They also looked at tables to determine patterns and use those patterns to make predictions. After the multiplication algorithm, we used fact families to make connections for the division algorithm. The big ideas from today were:
positive x positive = positive
positive x negative = negative
negative x positive = negative
negative x negative = positive
positive ÷positive = positive
positive÷negative = negative
negative÷positive = negative
negative÷negative = positive
