Aim: How can we multiply and divide positive and negative fractions and decimals?
Homework: Txtbk pp.67-68 #10,15
1. Based on what we did on Tuesday, can you describe the algorithm for multiplying two integers?
2. What does 8 x (-6) mean?
3. What value will a negative divided by a negative divided by a negative have? Explain.
Classwork: As a reminder:
positive x positive = positive
positive x negative = negative
negative x positive = negative
negative x negative = positive
We expanded our rational numbers computational understanding to include multiplying positive and negative fractions. We then applied our understanding to multiply positive and negative decimals. As we discovered, the previous algorithms applied to all rational numbers.
Announcements: There will be a Unit exam next week. I am also available after school on Tuesdays in room 228, or during lunch in my room.
