Aim: How can we compare, order, and practice working with rational numbers?Homework: Accentuate the Negative p. 25, #59-69Do Now: You are given the problem: -6 - 2 = ?Explain how you can use integer chips to model the problem and then a number line to verify your work. Classwork: The class focused on using integer chips and number lines to find the value of integer problems. We also compared rational numbers in different forms and looked at changing them all into the same form to make comparing easier (turn all numbers into their decimal equivalent OR turn all numbers in their fraction equivalent). This allowed us to order a series of rational numbers from least to greatest. We used Plickers to get class feedback on question sets to better drive tomorrow's lesson.Announcements: There will be a quiz Wednesday 9/20/17! Topics will include: comparing positive and negative numbers, ordering rational numbers (including positive and negative fractions/decimals), temperature problems, number line applications, and chip models.Resources:## Leave a Reply. |
