How can we multiply fractions and decimals?AIM: Multiplying Fractions/Decimals Worksheet #6-10, on each sideHW: Today we applied what we recently learned regarding the multiplication of positive and negative numbers to fractions and decimals. We reviewed the steps for multiplying fractions -- numerator times numerator, denominator times denominator, simplify the fraction. We also investigated cross simplification before multiplying as an alternate approach to solving fraction multiplication problems. Students will be practicing more problem sets for homework but they should remember that when working with mixed numbers, to convert them into improper fractions [by multiplying the denominator and whole number, then adding that product to the numerator and then keeping the same denominator] and then solve as usual. Remember to turn improper fractions into simplified mixed numbers at the end if necessary. Classwork:Resources:Look below. ## Leave a Reply. |
