How can we make line plots and box plots?AIM:Announcements: The NYS Math Assessment will take place Tuesday, May 2 to Thursday, May 4.NYS Math Assessment Review Packet #1-23 (found below)HW: Draw a box plot for the following data.Do Now:5, 2.5, 6, 8, 9, 2, 1, 4, 6.2, 18, 7 Classwork:From yesterday...Data is facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis. When presented as a list, data can be difficult to understand. We looked at two different ways to organize and display data so that it is easier to read, interpret, and understand. The first display is a line plot. Line plots are number lines with "X" or circles above numerical values to show the frequency of data values. The second display type is a box-and-whisker plot. This is also known as a five-point summary because it is uses the least value, first quartile, median, third quartile, and greatest value. The power of a box plot is that is gives us the highlights of a data set so that we may interpret it quickly. More on box plots below. Resources:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fPORMpSovU

I have a question about number 17 of the review packet, no matter how much math I did I kept getting the answer of the three added sums to be 135.45 but that isn't a valid choice in the 4 choices presented, so I would like an explanation of what I could be doing wrong and the correct way of doing question. Thank you.

Thanks for your question. We already know that Travis met his goal of $43. We also know that Robin wanted to be 35% more than Travis, so we can find her amount by finding 135% of 43 which is: 1.35(43) = $58.05. Now we have two out of the three people. We don't know Jessica's amount yet, so let's call that amount X. We know that Travis was 20% more than Jessica, so we want 120% of Jessica's amount, which should give us $43. We can use the equation: 1.2(X) =43. Dividing both sides by 1.2, we get X = $35.83. Now we know the goals of all three people. $58.08+$43+$35.83= $136.88 (Choice C).
