Do Now: Yesterday, the temperature at noon was 11.4 degrees F. By midnight, the temperature had decreased by 15.7 degrees. What was the temperature at midnight?
Ans. 11.4 - 15.7 =
11.4 + (15.7) = -4.3 degrees F
Classwork: Students review homework answers from previous night to assess understanding. We then engaged in "Round Robin" activity where students worked in groups of 4. Each student received a question and worked to solve for 4-5 minutes. At the end of the period, students rotated questions until everyone worked on each problem. We finished by having students discuss their responses and debate out discrepancies. Agreed upon group answers were recorded on an answer sheet and submitted. As a motivator, any group to get all questions correct will receive 5 points on their Unit 3 exam grade.
